현대몽골어와 한국어의 문장 부호 대조 연구 - 현대몽골어의 줄임표(...), 쌍점(:), 쉼표(,)를 중심으로 -
이 연구에서는 현대몽골어의 문장 부호에 대한 형태와 체계, 기능과 사용법 등을 종합해 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 한국어의 문장 부호와 서로 대조해 살펴보았다. 「몽골어 정서법(2018)」과 「한글 맞춤법(2017)」의 문장 부호를 기준으로 하였으며, 형태적으로도 서로 유사하고 현대몽골어와 한국어에서 가장 많은 규정을 가지고 있는 ‘쉼표(,)’를 포함, ‘줄임표(...)’, ‘쌍점(:)’에 초점을 맞춰 상호 대조 분석해 보았다. 아울러 이러한 대조 분석을 통해 이들이 서로 어떤 유사점과 차이점이 있는지 살펴보았으며, 양 언어 학습자들에게 문장 내에서 중요하게 사용되는 문장 부호의 올바른 사용법과 이해를 돕기 위한 기초자료 등을 제시하였다. 분석 결과, 현대몽골어의 문장 부호에 비해 한국어의 문장 부호가 다양했으며, 그 종류와 기능, 사용법도 더욱 세밀하게 나타났다. 이에 따라 종종 한국어 문장 부호의 기능과 사용법에 대응되는 몽골어 규정을 별도로 찾기 어려운 때가 있었다. 일부 예문에서 관례상 한국어 문장 부호와 똑같은 의미, 기능으로 사용하고 있음을 분명히 알 수 있지만, 문장 부호 규정상의 내용에는 해당 조항이 한국어처럼 명확하게 별도로 제시되어 있지 않은 경우들이다. 이러한 점은 앞으로 몽골어의 정서법, 문장 부호 규정이 하루빨리 정비, 보충되어야 할 부분이라 생각된다.
A Contrastive Study of Punctuation Marks in Modern Mongolian and Korean - Focus on Ellipsis(...), Colon(:), Comma(,)in Modern Mongolian -
This study comprehensively examined the form, structure, functions, and usage of punctuation marks in modern Mongolian and Korean—using the punctuation marks in ‘Mongolian Orthography (2018)’ and ‘Korean Orthography (2017)’ as a basis—and conducted a comparative analysis. The study focused on the ‘comma (,)’, which is morphologically similar and has the most rules in modern Mongolian and Korean—including the ‘ellipsis (…)’, and ‘colon (:)’. Through this comparative analysis, I examined the similarities and differences between them and provided basic materials to help learners of both languages understand and use punctuation marks correctly. Results of the analysis showed that the Korean language has a larger variety of punctuation marks—with their respective functions and usage—than modern Mongolian. Therefore, often, we cannot find separate Mongolian regulations corresponding to the functions and usage of Korean punctuation marks. Based on these findings, I believe that there is an urgent need to revise and supplement the orthography and punctuation rules of modern Mongolian.
